A Holistic Approach to Electrical Pre-Construction

The Role of Electrical Pre-Construction in Today's Projects

Jerry Beighey Discusses our Electrical Expertise in Pre-Construction
Jerry Beighey - Vice President
Jerry Beighey, Vice President at Cummings Electrical, is committed to supporting an environment that conveys More Than a Job for his clients, peers, team, and the industry overall.

“We take a holistic approach when performing pre-construction on a project. It’s not just about cost - it’s about features and benefits. We customize each project to deliver a solution that is functionally sound and tailor-made to that client. Each situation is unique, and we listen during the pre-construction phase to the priorities and needs of the client and ensure those desires are communicated to the construction team."

Q: What does it mean for Cummings to be a good team player?
Beighey: Designing a project is bigger than just one scope. As the Electrical contractor, our design decisions have an impact on every other stakeholder involved in the project. Cummings looks at every decision with a wide scope and an open mind. One simple change has a ripple effect across the other players, and we approach those decisions with an attitude of cooperation and teamwork. We evaluate what is best not only ourselves and our trade, but also for the collective. Everything needs to be looked at with a wide scope to understand that one simple change may benefit the project overall and it shouldn’t be thought of as one trade vs another.

Q: What’s exciting about what you do?
Beighey: I never know what type of project we’re going to be working on! Cummings has a very diverse portfolio of clients and project types. We regularly work on healthcare, hospitality, commercial, renewable energy, oilfield, sporting facilities, golf courses, etc. While we stay busy locally in North Texas, we also work on projects across the country. Evaluating how to get our team and tools to the site, cold weather training, estimating, and turning labor over kept us on our toes. I never know what tomorrow is going to bring, but I do know it will be exciting and our teams will handle whatever comes our way.

Q: What are you and your pre-construction team passionate about?
Beighey: Working collaboratively with our customers and partners in the construction community. Having the opportunity to be an active team member in the engineering and design – from inception to completion – allows us to really have an important impact on the outcome. We enjoy the challenge of providing the best possible solution to our clients, based on listening to their needs. Accomplishing this while maintaining budget and working in a positive, productive manner with our project stakeholders is what we strive for, every time.
