DFW6 Walmart-Dematic Controls
Cummings Electrical played a key role in the construction of a 920,000-square-foot Walmart distribution center, partnering with Dematic—a global leader in supply chain automation—to deliver a fully integrated electrical and controls solution for one of the most advanced logistics facilities in the country. Our scope included the installation of extensive conduit and wiring systems, thousands of LED light fixtures, and the complete power distribution infrastructure supporting the facility’s high-speed conveyor systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), and advanced sorting technologies. We provided dedicated electrical feeds and low-voltage raceways for each major automation component, ensuring system resilience and real-time operational control.
In addition to power, our team installed the complete data infrastructure necessary to support the facility’s AI-driven robotics and smart automation platforms. This included controls wiring, PLC connections, network backbone cabling, and precise coordination of power and signal routing to minimize interference and ensure system reliability. Our collaboration with Dematic included in-depth coordination on system sequencing, equipment startup, and functional testing—ensuring all automated equipment came online smoothly and met the performance standards required for a high-volume, 24/7 distribution environment. This project not only demonstrates Cummings Electricals’ capacity to execute large-scale industrial installations but also reinforces our leadership in delivering high-performance electrical and automation solutions for the modern supply chain.

Industrial Automations

Automated Equipment Shutdown & Start-Up
We'll deploy controls that automatically shut down idle machinery or start-up equipment only when needed. In doing so, we'll reduce unnecessary energy consumption and improve worksite safety by preventing accidental power usage.
Monitoring & Analytics
Advanced sensors and IoT devices help teams monitor energy in real time, across equipment types and work sites. We'll use analytics software to identify inefficiencies, predict energy consumption, and optimize your resource allocation throughout the duration of the project.
Demand Response Systems
Adjust energy consumption based on demand with the use of automatic controls. We'll show you how to reduce costs by shutting down non-essential equipment during peak usage hours or scheduling energy-intensive processes during off-peak hours.
Predictive Maintenance for Energy Efficiency
Monitor equipment health and predict maintenance needs. By ensuring that machinery operates optimally, you can avoid energy losses caused by wear and tear, misalignment, or malfunction.

Maintenance & Support

Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics
For fast support, remote monitoring solutions allow our technicians to access and diagnose control systems anywhere. By identifying and troubleshooting issues remotely, we're able to reduce the need for on-site visits, address problems quickly, and sometimes even resolve issues without physical intervention.
Emergency & Corrective Maintenance
When unexpected issues arise, we deliver emergency support to fix breakdowns or malfunctions quickly. This may include dispatching our technicians to repair faulty components or reset system controls. Our goal is to restore operations with minimal disruption to ongoing construction activities.
Safety Compliance & Standards
We ensure your equipment and systems comply with local, national, and industry-specific safety standards. Our regular safety audits, compliance checks, and risk assessments help protect personnel and equipment, reducing the likelihood of accidents and regulatory penalties.

Training Services

Safety Training & Compliance
Electrical systems and automation can present safety risks if not managed correctly. Our safety training covers best practices for working with high-voltage equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and emergency response. Ensuring compliance with OSHA and industry safety standards is our priority in order to protect both staff and equipment.
Equipment-Specific Training
Since equipment models and control systems can vary, equipment-specific training sessions empower your team members to understand the unique functionalities and settings of the systems they’ll be operating. This includes familiarizing your teams with vendor-specific controls, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting techniques for each type of equipment.
Documentation & Reporting Training
Training your staff on proper documentation methods ensures accurate records of system settings, maintenance actions, and incidents. Thorough documentation practices support ongoing maintenance, facilitate regulatory compliance, and allow for easy reference in future troubleshooting or audits.

Scada Systems

Centralized Control & Automation
Using SCADA, operators can manage and adjust equipment remotely from a centralized location, reducing the need for on-site adjustments. This centralized control is especially valuable for large projects where equipment is spread across multiple locations or for monitoring equipment in hard-to-reach areas. At Cummings, our technicians leverage the SCADA interface to start, stop, or modify the operation of machinery directly from a control center.
Energy Management & Efficiency Optimization
Manage energy consumption more effectively. With SCADA, our teams track energy usage patterns, control peak load times, and monitor equipment energy consumption to optimize overall energy efficiency. This reduces operational costs and supports sustainability goals.
Scalability for Complex Construction Projects
These systems are highly scalable, making them adaptable to both small and large projects. SCADA systems can accommodate an expanding network of sensors and controls as projects grow, allowing the company to integrate additional systems and equipment as needed without overhauling the core infrastructure.
Alarm & Notification Systems
Detect and alert operators to abnormal conditions, such as equipment malfunctions, overheating, or unexpected energy spikes. SCADA alerts can be sent as visual or audible alarms, email notifications, or text messages. These early warnings help our teams respond to issues quickly, minimizing downtime and preventing potential damage.
