Scope of Work
Cummings Electrical was tasked with the construction of 24 modular 2MW UPS enclosures in Canada. The project required a meticulous approach to maintain design consistency across multiple phases while adapting to site constraints and evolving UPS specifications. Each enclosure housed two 1MW UPS units, each with distinct battery systems, redundancy configurations, breakers, controls, VESDA, and proprietary cooling solutions. The enclosures varied in size, ranging from 44 feet by 13 feet by 11 feet to 53 feet by 11 feet by 9 feet 9 inches, with weights between 82,000 and 104,000 pounds.
Challenges & Solutions
Early collaboration among project stakeholders was essential in addressing design challenges and adapting to evolving requirements. Open communication between vendors, manufacturers, and internal teams helped facilitate efficient adjustments and minimize disruptions. Cummings Electrical built strong partnerships to anticipate obstacles and create solutions aligned with the client's needs. Quality was a top priority, with rigorous drawing reviews and precise measurements to prevent errors. Inspections throughout manufacturing and assembly ensured adherence to customer specifications, resulting in a high-quality final product that met industry standards and client requirements.
